Blossoming Basket Card and Stampin’Blends Alcohol Markers

DSC_0011

I have another card for you today using the wonderful Blossoming Basket stamp set from theSale-a-bration brochure. I wanted to show you a different way to color the image. In my previous post using this stamp set I water colored the image using ink refills and the aqua painter. With this card, I used the Stampin’Blends Alcohol markers to color the image.

I stamped the basket image on thick Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Pad and colored the image with Rich Razzleberry Light Stampin’Blends. As you can tell I did not work too much with the blending on the flowers, I just simply colored the flowers with the Light Rich Razzleberry Stampin’Blend. I did go back and added more color in spots where I thought there would be shading and also removed some color with the Color Lifter marker. The alcohol marker I used is actually the old Blendability alcohol marker Stampin’Up! had a few years ago, so the color may vary some with the new Stampin’Blends. You can’t tell from the photo, but I did go over the blooms with Wink of Stella glitter brush for a little added sparkle.

I wanted to add dimension to my card so I stamped basket again and colored the blooms and cut them out. I then added them to the basket using Stampin’dimensionals. The colorful little butterfly is cut out by hand using the Paper Snips and mounted on the card with a glue dot.

Don’t you just love the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder? It creates an authentic basket weave design! Such a nice touch! I used Crumb Cake cardstock for the embossed basket weave panel. The basket was colored in with the Crumb Cake Stampin’Blend.

You can get this bundle of products that includes the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and Blossoming Basket stamp set for FREE with a purchase of $100 (before shipping and tax) in my online store. I absolutely love the die cuts in the kit. The floral design reminds of the Lots of Lavender stamp set which is a Sale-a-bration stamp set. The vellum leaves really add a nice soft look!

Also included in this kit are 4 Watercolor Pencils! The Flirty Flamingo and Lemon Lime Twist colors are exclusive to this kit. You can view this kit in my online store here. The Blender Pens are recommended for the watercolor technique but you can also just color the images with the Watercolor Pencils without watercoloring.

I know you will enjoy this kit just for yourself too!

Have a great day and be sure to take time to CREATE!

Using the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set

I just love this stamp set! This is a great set of photopolymer stamps to show you that you do not need to spend 2 hours making a fancy card! You know the kind with many layers and different colors of cardstock and designer series paper.

You can make a one layer, simple but striking card.

DSC_0012

I just stamped the images on a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock. The card is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. I used Early Espresso for the tree base, and Pear Pizazz for the leaves on the tree. The good thing is with this set, the tree base and leaves are two separate stamps! And since you can see through the stamp it is so easy to put the leaves on the tree.

I stamped the flowers on the inside using Pear Pizzazz and Melon Mambo Stampin’Pad. Again these are two separate stamps!

This simple card is so striking the camera does not do it justice!. Don’t you just love the little bike image?

Now if you want, you can jazz it up by adding layers and embellishments.

So in this example I used Early Espresso cardstock as the base of my card and layered that with Whisper White cardstock and topped the white layer with designer series paper. The designer series paper is from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack from 2014-15 so it is retired.  I added a strip of 1 1/2″ Early Espresso cardstock down the middle. I used the Banner Triple punch to make the banner.

Sorry about the blob of glue at the top of the card. I didn’t wait for it to dry before photographing the card. It does dry clear. I adhered some linen thread tied into a bow as an embellishment.

I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 1/2″ x 4″ to the inside of the card. You can’t see the Early Espresso cardstock too well it kind of blends in to the background, but it is layered on top of the Early Espresso base. The above picture shows how I stamped the inside.

So you see the difference when you jazz up you card with layers and embellishments. But it is not necessary.
