Watercoloring with Aqua Painters

watercolor

Here is one of my favorite cards ever! I made this card last year. It was posted on my previous blog. The stamp set is You’ve Got This and it is in the Annual Catalog. This stamp set is so cute! It comes with a background stamp! Which is what I used to stamp the background on this card using Pool Party Stampin’Pad. The cardstock is Pool Party as well.

Item #139575 You’ve Got This clear mount stamp set

I used the watercoloring technique to color the image using the Aqua-Painters.  The new Stampin’Blends would work perfectly too, but use thick Whisper White cardstock for that technique.  I used Stampin’Up! watercolor paper. To do this technique, just use the Stampin’Pad squeeze it together to pick up ink on the lid using the aqua painter. You can also just add a drop of ink from a ink refill bottle. I colored the flower with Calypso Coral Stampin’Pad. The stem is colored with Old Olive Stampin’Pad.

It just takes a little practice to get use to using the aqua painters. But the results are so pretty! Have a tissue or paper towel handy to remove excess water from the aqua painter brush or remove color from your image if you think it is too much. It will lift the color if it has not dried yet. Add most of your color in the shaded areas of the flower and lighter color where you think light would be hitting the flower. Give it a try, you will really enjoy this technique.

I hope you enjoyed my card and it inspires you to CREATE! See below for the supply list.

Happy papercrafting,

Shelly
